Jamie Tyler

Episode 12,   Dec 08, 2020, 12:30 AM

This week I’m talking to Jamie Tyler.

Yes, I’m welcoming our first male yoga teacher to the podcast! Jamie teaches different styles of yoga (hot, hatha, vinyasa, rocket and wheel to name a few!) at a number of yoga studios across Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire and lives in a village with his wife, his little girl and baby boy.

He’s relatively newly qualified as a yoga teacher (2 years) but had his first taste of yoga 20 years ago when he started to attend classes in London. He was drawn to yoga as a way to stay strong and flexible whilst working as a performer in West End Musicals. Yes, Jamie has appeared in multiple theatre productions (including most recently working with the Royal Shakespeare Company!) so, as with my other guests, we’ll delve into his non-yoga life too and find out what the theatre industry is like. Jamie also took an interesting (read non-traditional) route into theatre roles, gaining experience working on cruise ships (rather than going to drama school) so we’ll also hear about how that side of his career got started.

Married to a successful musician, Jamie discusses their approach to co-parenting and having to manage their diaries around work and family commitments to facilitate them both having the career they want. I found my conversation with Jamie fascinating so I really hope you enjoy listening to it.

His two Savasana Sounds tracks are Spiegel Im Spiegel and Nobody Knows Me Like the Piano by Sampha - I think they are both gorgeous so check them out and see what you think.
