6th November 2021 - Tech News & Reviews on BBC Berkshire

Nov 07, 2021, 01:30 AM

Fevzi Turkalp, the Gadget Detective, joins Bill Buckley on BBC Berkshire to discuss the latest tech news and reviews. This week; Meta's plans for a 'metaverse' have been labelled "dystopian" and a "bad idea" by one of Facebook's earliest investors, Roger McNamee. What is the metaverse and should we be worried about the influence and control it may have?

Gadget of the Week is the Tech-Break. This quirky USB or battery powered cuboid gadget is around a foot square into which, probably under duress, you place all of your family's gadgets where they become locked by a timer, allowing you to all take a much needed break from technology for various time lengths, from an hour, overnight, or up to 14 days. With a built in display counting down, it features charging points inside, so your devices will be charged when you later desperately retrieve them, and does have an emergency keypad release. Ideal if you feel you or your family have an addiction, or just really want to annoy your children. Scoring 3.5 out of 5, listen in for full details.
