5th February 2022 - Tech News & Reviews on BBC Berkshire

Feb 07, 2022, 01:23 AM

Fevzi Turkalp, the Gadget Detective, joins Bill Buckley on BBC Berkshire to discuss the latest tech news and reviews. This week; although they say they have now stopped, the mental health text service Crisis Text Line (CTL) had been sharing data with Loris.AI, an artificial intelligence system designed to construct responses, but even with the data supposedly anonymised it raises serious questions regarding the privacy of those using the service.

First Gadget of the Week is the 512 Audio Skylight microphone. This professional level condenser microphone uses an XLR connector and features a wide diaphragm to offer a smooth tone. With a solid construction it's built to last and comes with a shock mount to counter vibrations, a detachable metal mesh pop filter, and a carry bag. It scored 4 out of 5

Second Gadget of the Week is the 512 Audio Limelight microphone. This dynamic microphone uses a hypercardioid design better suited to noisier environments and XLR connection, with average build quality it comes with a swivel mount and protective case. It scored 3.5 out of 5
