22nd January 2022 - Tech News & Reviews on BBC Berkshire

Jan 26, 2022, 08:06 PM

Fevzi Turkalp, the Gadget Detective, joins Bill Buckley on BBC Radio Berkshire to discuss the latest tech news and reviews. This week; the UK government has started a "No Place To Hide Campaign" aimed at stopping companies, such as Facebook, from using end-to-end encryption on their messaging apps, purportedly to combat child abuse but how could easier access to our private communications be exploited?

Gadget of the Week is the Withings Thermo Smart Temporal Thermometer. This thermometer is swept across the forehead from one temple to the other, without needing to touch the skin, and gives a reading within seconds on the dot matrix display. With memories for up to eight users it will store their readings, which can be transferred to the Withings Health App to produce graphs. Scoring 3.5 out of 5, listen in for more details.

You can hear the Gadget Detective on BBC Berkshire just after midday every Saturday and follow and contact him on Twitter @gadgetdetective. If you enjoy these podcasts please consider subscribing and leaving a review, thanks!
