Woman Comes Out of Coma, Accuses Brother Of Crime | Daily Brief

After waking up from a two-year coma, a West Virginia woman identified her brother as the man who attacked her at home in June 2020.

In a report from regional outlet MetroNews, it was assumed that the case would remain unsolved prior to this development. An employee at a regional long-term care facility notified law enforcement this month that Wanda Palmer had awoken.

Jackson County Sheriff Ross Mellenger explained, "With the victim unable to communicate, we were left with nothing." He added, "Now, two years later, she's awake and can tell us exactly what happened."

A separate report from WCHS indicates that Wanda was initially found by her neighbors with "serious head injuries," with arriving law enforcement later adding she had been hit "with an object that caused lacerations." It has been speculated that Daniel Palmer may have used a machete or hatchet to cause the injuries.

  According to a recent news release shared on social media, Daniel Palmer, 55, was arrested and charged with attempted murder and malicious wounding in connection with the 2020 attack. Wanda had been attacked, hacked, and left for dead by her brother, police reported.
