A 57-year-old New Jersey man faces federal charges after allegedly trying to hire a hit man to kill a young girl.
U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of New Jersey announced charges against Armando Conceicao for conspiracy to commit murder for hire and using interstate facilities with intent to commit murder for hire.
According to the indictment, Conceicao allegedly communicated with a person identified only as Individual-1 between May and November 2021 and asked them to "kill or find another to kill the victim." In May 2021, Conceicao met Individual-1 in New Jersey and gave them the victim's address and a photo.
The girl lived in Texas, and Conceicao paid Individual-1 to drive to Texas and take photos of the home and car of her father.
Conceicao allegedly instructed Individual-1 to murder the victim when he returned to New Jersey.
In November, the two met again in Plainfield, New Jersey, to discuss their plans. Individual-1 allegedly stated, "I know a guy who's cheap, he's charging fifteen bucks, ten bucks, no problem."
The "guy" wanted "to know how we're going to do it," according to Individual-1. Conceicao allegedly responded in the affirmative.
According to Individual-1, "If we kill a little girl, it's just one person."
Conceicao allegedly replied, "It's over."
"What will happen if the whole family is there?" asked Individual-1.
Individual-1 was allegedly told by Conceicao to kill the girl, then "finish with the rest."
According to him, the victim is 13 years old.
If convicted, Conceicao could face up to 10 years in prison and a fine of $250,000.
