Las Vegas Man Watches Friend's Murder Live, Allegedly Deletes Evidence

Las Vegas Metro police have reported a chilling incident where a man allegedly watched the murder of his friend live on a video feed before deleting crucial evidence, leading to a chain of arrests and charges.
Stefan Jakubov, age 29, now faces multiple charges, including murder, following the August 12 killing of Aaron Chavez, as stated in an arrest report. Jakubov is accused of playing a complicit role in the crime, allegedly goading his friend Gino Julian into killing Chavez.
The arrest report revealed Jakubov's profession as a trader for Mortgage Capital Trading.
Authorities allege that on August 12, 2023, Julian beat Chavez to death inside a Las Vegas residence equipped with a webcam that allowed Jakubov to witness the horrific assault in real-time. Investigators allegedly obtained text conversations from Jakubov to Julian with the phrases "Break his face,” "Delete our convos," and "I'll delete cameras."
Julian allegedly sent Jakubov text messages stating, “Where should I put on the show?” and “Is there bleach or chlorine?” regarding cleaning up the crime scene. Jakubov allegedly responded that there were cleaning products under the sink.
Furthermore, Jakubov allegedly misled Chavez's mother about his whereabouts after the murder had taken place.
Julian was arrested in August 2023 after tow truck drivers found him asleep inside a parked car just feet away from Chavez’s charred body. Julian had reportedly called the drivers to his location because his car had gotten stuck in the sand.
Chavez, aged 30, succumbed to blunt force trauma to the head, as confirmed by the San Bernardino County coroner’s office.
Jakubov, who was located in Slovakia, was interviewed by phone by a San Bernardino Sheriff's Department detective on August 16. During the interview, he revealed details about his relationship with Chavez and alleged financial disputes.
Further investigation revealed a feud between Jakubov and Chavez, apparent in group chat messages dating back to August 2.
The legal proceedings saw a warrant issued for Jakubov's arrest on March 6, with additional felony charges added by the Clark County District Attorney’s office on March 18. Las Vegas Justice Court Judge Amy Chelini set bail for Jakubov at $500,000 for the murder and robbery charges, with additional conditions including electronic monitoring and surrendering his passport.
Jakubov's preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 25, with attorneys Robert Draskovich and William Brown representing him. Draskovich expressed confidence in his client's exoneration from the murder and robbery charges.
Attorney Robert Draskovich expressed optimism about his client's release, stating, "We anticipate him posting bail in the very near future. He is looking forward to his preliminary hearing in this case and is confident he will be exonerated of the murder and robbery charges he currently faces."
Meanwhile, Julian awaits a jury trial scheduled for May. He remains in custody at the Clark County Detention Center in downtown Las Vegas.
