The Duggar Children Deserved Protection. They Got Locked Doors.

A nine-year-old girl allegedly carried what happened to her for five years before she told anyone. Five years inside a family system that already had a documented playbook for keeping allegations quiet.

Joseph Duggar, 31, now faces Florida charges for lewd and lascivious molestation of a child under 12 and lewd and lascivious contact after allegedly admitting to the conduct — twice — according to the arrest affidavit. He posted $600,000 bond and is barred from unsupervised contact with any minor.

When investigators searched his home, they reportedly found locks on the outside of children's bedroom doors. That produced separate Arkansas charges — four counts each of endangering the welfare of a minor and four counts each of false imprisonment — against both Joseph and his wife Kendra.

His older brother Josh is already serving a 12½-year federal sentence. The family's history of handling these situations internally is documented. And the Tontitown Police Department says this investigation remains active and ongoing.
