The Duggar Pipeline: From IBLP to Congress

Josh Duggar didn't just happen to end up lobbying Congress for conservative Christian values. He was engineered for it.Bill Gothard's plan — the Joshua Generation — was to take the best children from his homeschool network and deploy them into government, law, and politics. Josh was the prototype: raised inside IBLP, educated through ATI, trained in a system that treated political engagement as spiritual mandate. He went from reality television directly to the executive director position at the political arm of the Family Research Council.The political infrastructure surrounding IBLP was extensive. Mike Huckabee maintained a close public relationship with the Duggar family and defended Josh publicly. Rick Perry spoke at an ATI conference. Sarah Palin attended IBLP events. Jim Bob Duggar ran for office himself and campaigned for presidential candidates.And the money behind it was substantial. IBLP's reported earnings at peak reached approximately sixty-three million dollars. Properties were provided by Hobby Lobby's David Green. A congressman chaired the IBLP board.Josh's federal conviction on charges involving illegal abuse material didn't end the pattern. In March 2026, his brother Joseph was arrested on Florida felony charges alleging misconduct with a minor during a 2020 family vacation. He is presumed innocent and faces proceedings. Both Joseph and his wife Kendra also face separate charges in Arkansas.IBLP still operates. Its teachings are still available. Gothard is ninety-one and has never been criminally charged. The Texas Supreme Court allowed a 2025 lawsuit alleging the organization's doctrine enabled abuse to proceed.This is the final episode of our five-part series. The Duggars were the public face. IBLP was the machine. The machine is still running.
