The Lindsay Clancy murder trial is now in recess until Friday morning, but not before jurors heard from two more people who were on scene in the earliest, most chaotic minutes after Clancy's three children were found. Clancy, 34, of Duxbury, Massachusetts, is accused of strangling 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 7-month-old Callan with exercise resistance bands inside the family's Summer Street home on January 24, 2023. She faces three counts of murder and three counts of strangulation, has pleaded not guilty, and her defense, led by attorney Kevin Reddington, argues she was in the grip of severe postpartum psychosis and psychiatric overmedication.

Duxbury firefighter-paramedic Daniel Dougherty testified about fitting Clancy with a stabilizing neck collar and treating her en route in the ambulance. Cross-examination pushed into whether cold exposure could have restricted her blood flow — a detail that matters more than it sounds, given what the defense is trying to establish about her condition that day. Duxbury Police Officer Vincent Cahill then walked jurors through what he found at the scene, the equipment he brought in trying to help, and his role assisting with CPR on Cora — testimony that doesn't get easier to deliver no matter how many times an officer has had to give it.

Prosecutors maintain Clancy understood what she was doing regardless of her mental state. She allegedly attempted suicide afterward by jumping from a second-story window and remains paralyzed from the waist down. Her husband, Patrick Clancy, was out running errands at the time and has since relocated to Manhattan. Proceedings resume Friday morning in Plymouth Superior Court and are expected to continue for several more weeks.
