Why Patrick Clancy Turned On His Kids' Doctors

Here's what the prosecution didn't count on in the Lindsay Clancy trial: their own witness might be their biggest problem. Patrick Clancy took the stand in Plymouth Superior Court to help the state prove his wife was rational enough to plan what happened to their three children. He described one of her best days — a snowman, normal texts, nothing that looked like a woman in crisis. 
Prosecutors leaned into it hard. Jurors sat through a seven-minute 911 call. They saw the pajamas. They saw the exercise bands. They heard about the fourteen-second phone call Patrick got after the children were already gone, a call where he had no idea anything had happened. 
Then cross-examination flipped the room. Lindsay had checked herself into McLean Hospital on New Year's Eve. She'd gone to the ER. She'd told providers, more than once, about intrusive thoughts involving her own children. And Women and Infants Hospital had already flagged overmedication and a possible misdiagnosis — a warning that went nowhere. 
And then came the detail nobody in that courtroom saw coming: Patrick Clancy filed a civil lawsuit against the doctors. Lindsay filed her own, separately. The father who just testified for the prosecution is, outside those courtroom doors, telling a different story about who's actually responsible.
