What Nolan Wells' Own Pathologist Couldn't Find

Nolan Wells' own family paid for a second autopsy, and it came back "undetermined" — partly because parts of his throat were missing by the time their pathologist examined the body. The official state autopsy is still sealed, and the DA has only said a grand jury will eventually look at it, with no date attached. 
Nolan was eighteen. He went to a July 4 boat party on Horn Island, Mississippi, and never came home. His body was found two days later in the water. The sheriff called it no foul play before the autopsy, toxicology, or the FBI's phone review were finished. His mother, Christine Wells-Wonsley, wasn't even told he was missing until almost midnight, hours after the boat docked and his friends left with his phone and his keys still in their hands. 
When Christine got that phone back, both of Nolan's Snapchat accounts were completely empty — for a kid who documented everything. There's also a contradiction on the record: the girl he allegedly stayed behind to talk to says Nolan told her he was getting on the boat with the boys. The boys say he stayed behind with her. 
On the day the family buried him, their attorneys sent preservation-of-evidence letters to every party connected to the case. Nine days after that, Christine filed court-ordered subpoenas against five tech companies for GPS data, login histories, direct messages, and password reset records.
