Lindsay Clancy Reached Out Twice Before January 24

A crisis line is not a medical record. It is not a referral. Nothing about the call guarantees the clinician managing someone's care ever learns it happened. In the Lindsay Clancy trial, that structure stopped being theoretical.

Clancy's civil lawsuit describes a woman who sought treatment, went to emergency rooms, called crisis hotlines and admitted herself to hospitals. Both psychiatrists who have testified for the prosecution said the hotline calls were news to them. One testified it surprised her.

Goodheart, the McLean physician, also testified she did not know Clancy had gone roughly two days without sleep after starting a medication earlier in her treatment. She told the court sleep deprivation can contribute to a manic episode, and that she would have wanted to keep observing Clancy's sleep after discharge.

That is the part listeners keep writing in about. Several outpatient providers, one inpatient stay, two hotline calls, and no single person holding all of it.

Clancy pleaded not guilty to the murder charges against her and is presumed innocent. Prosecutors argue she acted with intent and that her care team is not responsible. Her defense argues postpartum psychosis and a lack of criminal responsibility. The providers deny negligence.
