Jesse Mack Butler pleaded no contest to eleven felony counts in Payne County, Oklahoma in August 2025. A judge found a factual basis and entered convictions. Less than a year later, those convictions were gone.

The dismissal landed on August 3, 2026, the day before his nineteenth birthday, which is the exact point Oklahoma law ends a court's power over a youthful offender. Juvenile affairs officials reported he met every condition without a violation.

His penalty was counseling, a curfew, daily check-ins, no social media, 150 hours of community service, and roughly $3,300. He faced 78 years and never entered custody at any stage of the case.

Two sixteen-year-old Stillwater High students reported him. Civil filings say one required surgery on her throat and that a doctor told her how close she had come. Those filings also allege a coordinated effort to pressure her into silence. Butler has never answered any of it under oath.

The families fought the plea under Marsy's Law and lost in April 2026, when a judge found they had been properly notified and fairly treated. Protesters filled the courthouse steps in November 2025 demanding the judge and district attorney be removed. The district attorney later left office.

Her replacement, sworn in three days before the final hearing, is sending the file to federal prosecutors and says double jeopardy leaves him nothing else. A former prosecutor put the odds bluntly: federal authorities rarely reopen a finished state case.

State Farm has asked a federal judge to release it from defending Butler, arguing its policies cover accidents rather than intentional or criminal acts.

The girl's parents have sued Butler, his parents, and the school district. A deposition is the one thing left that puts him under oath.
