Henry Tenon Said Four Words and the Bridegan Case Split in Three

"I want a trial." Judge London Kite asked Henry Tenon whether he wanted to keep his guilty plea or take his chances with a jury, and that was his answer. She told him he had it. One prosecution turned into three separate trials stretching from August 2026 into March 2027.

Jared Bridegan died on February 16, 2022 on Sanctuary Boulevard in Jacksonville Beach. He had just dropped his twins at the home of his ex-wife, Shanna Gardner, after taking them to dinner. A tire in the road stopped his SUV. He got out to move it and was shot. His 2-year-old daughter was in the back seat and was not hit.

Mario Fernandez Saldana went first. His verdict will be read aloud rather than sealed, days before the people who will judge Gardner are chosen. We cover the wiretaps on Gardner's phone and Apple Watch that a judge refused to suppress, the witness kept off the stand under marital privilege, and the state's late disclosure that a second person drove away from the scene.

Gardner, Fernandez Saldana and Tenon have each pleaded not guilty and are presumed innocent.
