Lindsay Clancy's Expert Called Her a Grieving Mother and Then Said What

An FBI forensic psychiatrist found a crack in the voice that Lindsay Clancy says told her to kill her children — and it starts with a bowl of chicken nuggets on a couch.

Gregory Saathoff, a senior psychiatrist for the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit, testified on August 25 that Clancy told him she was at the refrigerator preparing chicken nuggets for the children when Patrick called and the voice began. Patrick told Saathoff the children were already eating. Crime scene photographs showed a bowl on the couch. Saathoff called the discrepancy "a cause for significant concern" and identified a second inconsistency — Clancy gave different timelines for when the voice started to two separate evaluators, a gap of roughly twenty minutes.

Earlier in the day, prosecution expert Kirk Heilbrun completed his testimony with a collision the jury will carry into deliberations. He told the courtroom Clancy is a grieving mother who tried hard to get help and is not self-centered — then testified she's criminally responsible. Reddington spent the cross exposing his $54,000 bill and his last encounter with postpartum psychosis in 1982. Heilbrun didn't move. Closing arguments expected Thursday.
