Keffe D's Gang Title Just Came Out In Court?!

On Day 7 of the Tupac Shakur murder trial, a former gang detective told the jury what Duane "Keffe D" Davis's rank inside the South Side Compton Crips actually was. He explained what that rank means for who gives the orders.

Robert Ladd, who spent years tracking the gang as part of Compton's two-man gang unit, identified Davis by a specific title in the hierarchy. He testified about Orlando Anderson's initiation, gang codes of respect, and what happens when a high-ranking member feels disrespected. The prosecution used Ladd to bridge a gap: Davis didn't fire the gun, but his position in the gang tells you whose decision it was. Greenidge, Tupac's childhood friend, corroborated where the shots came from — the back seat, not the front where Davis sat.

Three analysts also walked the jury through Davis's Henderson home search from September 2023. Among the items recovered: his own memoir and newspaper clippings about the night Tupac was killed, stored for nearly three decades.
