The first Pirate Football Playback of the 2026 season is here!

East Carolina opened the 2026 campaign on the road in Tuscaloosa against #13 Alabama, with the Crimson Tide defeating the Pirates 48-10.

Tonight on The Sports Objective, we'll take a complete look back at ECU's trip to Alabama. What went right? What went wrong? What can the Pirates take away from the season opener, and where does ECU need to improve as it turns the page to Week Two?

And now, it's time to come home!

The Pirates will play their first home game of the 2026 season against a very familiar opponent—the Appalachian State Mountaineers.

This one means something.

App State has won the last three meetings against East Carolina, and going all the way back to ECU Football Media Day, Head Coach Blake Harrell has talked about the importance of this matchup. We'll begin setting the table for what should be a tremendous atmosphere as the Pirates return home and look to get into the win column.

We'll also go around the country and look back at a wild opening weekend of college football, including the crazy finish between Western Michigan and Michigan and the controversial decision to put one second back on the clock.
