The wrongful death lawsuit filed against D4vd by the family of Celeste Rivas Hernandez puts a name on every person the family says helped make it possible. It is not just David Anthony Burke. It is his mother. His managers. His business entities. The family alleges each defendant either knew about the relationship or actively facilitated it.

The complaint, filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, describes a mother whose alleged financial dependence on her son's career created the conditions for silence. It describes company funds allegedly paying for the Hollywood Hills home and the security that kept the arrangement concealed. It describes a bodyguard who allegedly transported a minor to the residence.

Burke has pleaded not guilty to criminal charges of first-degree murder, continuous illegal conduct involving a person under 14, and mutilation of remains. His celebrity defense team withdrew before the arraignment. A public defender now represents him. The DA's office has not ruled out the death penalty.

Celeste Rivas Hernandez was 14. Her remains were found in September 2025 in the trunk of a Tesla registered to Burke at a Hollywood impound lot. Prosecutors allege the relationship began when she was 13 and he was 18.

Former FBI Special Agent Robin Dreeke examines the psychology of maternal complicity inside a fame-driven system, what it takes for the people around a young star to rationalize looking the other way, and what the civil lawsuit reveals about the architecture of enablement.
