Caleb Flynn Court Coverage Day 2: Bernard's Gun Search Reached WHAT Location?!

Tipp City Police Detective Adam Bernard took the stand on Day 2 of the Caleb Flynn trial and walked jurors through evidence collection that continued after the house was processed. His testimony included electronic data gathered under a Microsoft search warrant and the ongoing effort to locate a firearm. 

On cross-examination, Bernard said he spent tens of hours searching the Flynn home for the gun. The search did not stay inside the house. Bernard testified that police also searched sewer drains, giving the defense and prosecution very different ways to frame the scope of what investigators were doing. 

The defense then turned to tips. Bernard testified that he collected incoming tip reports and forwarded them to the FBI. He also said he did not know whether those tips were followed up on. That answer does not establish that a tip was ignored. It establishes that Bernard could not tell the jury what happened after the reports left his hands. 

Bernard also identified electronic evidence collected through a Microsoft search warrant. That part of his testimony documented another collection step in the investigation. The defense's cross-examination focused more directly on the firearm search and on Bernard's inability to say whether tips sent to the FBI were followed up on. 

Caleb Flynn has pleaded not guilty to all charges tied to the death of his wife, Ashley Flynn. Prosecutors allege he killed Ashley and staged a burglary scene. His defense says Ashley was killed by an intruder and that investigators rushed to judgment against Caleb. 

For jurors, Bernard's testimony adds another layer to that dispute. Police devoted tens of hours to the firearm search and even checked sewer drains. At the same time, Bernard could not account for what became of tips after they were sent to the FBI. One part of the testimony documents the depth of a search; the other puts the follow-through on outside leads squarely in question.
