Trial Of Caleb Flynn Day 4: Botner Got WHAT Valentine Message?!

Alleigha Botner told jurors that Caleb Flynn sent her a Valentine's Day message saying he was finally free of Ashley Flynn and had told Ashley he wanted a divorce. FBI forensic examiner Sarah Stuchell also returned to the stand, where she acknowledged the limits of the tool-mark evidence tied to the disputed door. 

Flynn has pleaded not guilty to charges stemming from Ashley Flynn's death. His attorneys maintain that Ashley was killed during a home invasion. Prosecutors allege Caleb staged the scene to make it appear that an intruder entered the home. 

Under cross-examination, Stuchell testified that she could not determine who handled any of the tools tested. She also confirmed that the laboratory findings were inconclusive as to whether any of those tools actually made the marks on the door or its hardware. 

Botner testified that she met Flynn as a church intern in 2022 and that their relationship became romantic in 2024. She said Flynn claimed Ashley had been unfaithful, said he hated her, and described the two as living like roommates while he stayed for his daughters. Botner said Flynn frequently talked about wanting Ashley gone and testified that he once said he would kill her if he could do it without jail or Hell. She described giving him repeated deadlines to leave the marriage and said he missed them because he did not want to hurt his children. Botner also testified that Flynn messaged her on Valentine's Day that he was finally free of Ashley and had told Ashley he wanted a divorce. She said her phone was destroyed after it fell into the water while kayaking in Florida and that her laptop was later lost while flying.
