Caleb Flynn Court Coverage Day 4: Botner's Valentine Text Said WHAT?!

Alleigha Botner testified that Caleb Flynn messaged her on February 14 saying he was finally free of Ashley Flynn and had told Ashley he wanted a divorce. Sarah Stuchell's cross-examination put a very different issue before the jury: her forensic testing could not identify who used any tested tool or prove that one of those tools made the marks on the door. 

Caleb Flynn is on trial for the death of his wife, Ashley Flynn, and has pleaded not guilty. The defense says an intruder killed Ashley during a home invasion. Prosecutors allege Flynn staged the scene to look like a burglary. 

On cross, Stuchell confirmed that her forensic comparison was inconclusive. She could not say who used any of the tested tools, and she could not identify any one tool as having made the marks on the door or door handles. 

Botner testified that she first met Flynn in 2022 as an intern at his church and that their relationship became personal two years later. She said they referred to periods when Ashley was away as their “marriage weeks,” and the two got matching Harry Potter tattoos. Botner testified that Flynn used degrading names for Ashley, said he hated her, and repeatedly talked about wanting her gone. She told jurors he said at least monthly that he wanted Ashley to die and once said that, if he could kill her without going to jail or going to Hell, he would. Botner said she ended the relationship in December 2025, although she later received a February 14 message from Flynn saying he was finally free of Ashley and had told Ashley he wanted a divorce. She also alleged Flynn had hacked her Instagram and phone.
