Lindsay Clancy Defense Wants Juror Notes Released—What Are They Looking For?

Martin Weinberg is asking Judge William Sullivan to open up another piece of the Lindsay Clancy trial record—juror notes and sidebar discussions that are currently subject to impoundment.

Weinberg argued for Clancy’s defense on a motion seeking an order that those materials not remain impounded. The reason matters. The defense wants to use at least some of those documents as part of its separate motion to dismiss the case on double jeopardy grounds. Sullivan did not rule from the bench, instead taking the motion under advisement.

That puts the focus squarely on what happened during a trial that ended without a verdict—and what the defense believes the record may show about how it ended.

Clancy, 34, of Duxbury, Massachusetts, pleaded not guilty to three counts of murder and three counts of strangulation in the deaths of her children, Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 7 months. Prosecutors allege she strangled the children with exercise resistance bands inside the family’s Summer Street home on January 24, 2023. They allege she then attempted suicide by jumping from a second-story window. She is now paralyzed from the waist down.

Her husband, Patrick Clancy, was out running errands at the time. He has since relocated to Manhattan and has spoken to The New Yorker about Lindsay’s mental health.

Defense attorney Kevin Reddington has argued that Clancy was suffering from severe postpartum psychosis and had been psychiatrically overmedicated, forming the basis of the insanity defense. Jury selection began July 20, 2026, in Plymouth Superior Court.

Now Weinberg’s argument moves the post-trial fight into the jury record itself. The defense says some of those materials matter to its double-jeopardy claim. Whether Sullivan agrees they can be released remains undecided.
