The prosecution’s star witness in the Caleb Flynn trial was the 24-year-old woman he was having an affair with. Alleigha Botner testified for two days, reading from more than 107,000 messages. She admitted she lied to the FBI, deleted evidence, and texted about wanting Ashley dead. The jury had to trust her enough to use her testimony against Flynn while knowing she had her own credibility problems. The defense attacked her on cross-examination. The jury still convicted on all nine counts in approximately two hours without a murder weapon. Prosecutors argued Flynn shot Ashley in her sleep and staged a home invasion. Attorney Bob Motta and retired FBI agent Robin Dreeke break down how jurors navigate a compromised witness, what the digital evidence did independently of Botner, and why the verdict came so fast.
