Sandra Birchmore was picking out car seats and onesies two days before she was found dead in her Canton apartment. A friend shared that detail with reporters after the first day of Matthew Farwell's federal trial. Inside the courtroom, three women described a woman who was making plans. Sandra's boss said she'd been told the father of Sandra's baby was a police officer and that Sandra was determined to have the child. Sandra told her third-grade students the father was her boyfriend. Her mentor, a detective, said she'd never in her career seen a death scene like this one. The first officer through Sandra's door called it self-inflicted. Prosecutors want the jury to see that call as the original mistake. The trial returns October 15th.
