Oct 21, 2014, 07:25 PM

Youngsters in North #Lancashire are being invited to take part in a new writing project which is exploring how World War One affected #Morecambe.

The Time and Tide project is holding a series of workshops from October 2014 looking at how the local community was affected by the outbreak of #war.

The monthly workshops are being run by local poet Sarah Hymas who will work with 16-25 year olds on the creative writing project.

The stories will then be displayed in an exhibition in July 2015 and form an art, print and audio installation.

Vicci McCann is a senior archivist from the Lancashire Archives, who is involved in the Time and Tide project.

She has unearthed numerous hidden stories from Morecambe during wartime from coroners' inquest reports.

In the interview below, Vicci McCann tells The Bay's Amy Scarisbrick about the sinking of HMS Champagne, the death of a soldier in a boxing match in Morecambe, and the tragic tale of a pregnant woman who took who own life after the outbreak of war. Audio is property of The Bay Radio/CN group and has been uploaded for portfolio purposes. Interview was broadcast on 20th October 2014
