Jacqueline Fernell is Senior Lecturer for Pre-Registration Nursing at the University of Worcester's Institute of Health and Society. R2015.001.0003 #nursing #histmed #GMMedicalMuseum transcript: "As Student Nurses we were employed by the hospital, we were members of the hospital team so we were workers so we had to obviously work but obviously while you are working you’re learning and the staff would be there to teach you and to guide you and support you and to see that obviously you were doing things safely. And I would say that most of the learning that we did was on the ward and not in the School of Nursing. Um the feeling when you qualified and you became a nurse – you went back to the wards and said thank you very much, you were, you were part of the hospital - you never really thought of going back to the School of Nursing and saying thank you very much."
