Mine awareness day message: “Mine action is Humanitarian action”

Today 4 April marks the International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action.
This day aims to raise awareness about landmines and the progress toward their eradication, and is a day that reminds us of the devastating effects of landmines and other explosive remnants of war (ERW). In #SouthSudan, a country where 3.2 million people are malnourished and the threat of mines and UXOs are hampering delivery of humanitarian assistance, UNMAS chief operations officer, Robert Thompson, told the breakfast show that Mine action is crucial for humanitarian action.
