Episode #54 - Dessert or Main Meal?
Feb 19, 2014, 06:00 AM
Karen and Natalie are joined by Hypable staffer Kristen to recap the action-packed Teen Wolf season 3, episode 19 "Letharia Vulpina."
Featured Song: "Apple Pie" by Cameron The Public
- This week we're joined by Kristen, who covers The Vampire Diaries here on Hypable!
- We're all relieved that this episode didn't leave us feeling done in like "Riddled" did.
- The quotes section makes a return - we discuss Melissa and found family, Peter not being the high school drama teacher (so close!) and how much we are all obsessed with our new baby, Deputy Parrish.
- Deaton is in Japan. We all thought it was the cliff above Beacon Hills. Was this entire scenario too convoluted? Also, like, really dark?
- If he snuck in there twelve hours ago to paralyze Yuki the wolf, why couldn't he have snuck in to steal the moss? You know what, never mind...
- We agree that some of this episode was B-movie levels of stilted, which is something we don't usually even notice.
- Kira was pretty badass with that cable though.
- The chaos caused by the nogitsune throughout this whole episode - was sucking the pain Scott imbibed his endgame, or like a tasty bonus?
- Who offended the nogitsune?
- Chris Argent and Derek Hale - now there's a buddy comedy for you.
- Why did the nogitsune set this up? Does he ship Chris/Derek or something?
- Coach is so adorable. We know it's complete emotional manipulation, but he's still adorable.
- Scott and the twins find Stiles. Do we believe that Stiles is himself?
- The best way to cover up a lie is by exposing as much truth as possible. Is this what Stiles did?
- What do we think about Ethan and Danny? Where are they at?
- We were so thrilled that Coach was such a drama queen about being shot, because it pretty much guaranteed his survival. Still, we are glad we were forewarned!
- Does Peter live at Derek's loft? Kick him out, Derek.
- We're disappointed that they're making Peter worse and worse - he seemed to be a bit more complex in 3A, but it looks like no redemption arc will be happening here!
- We all had the same bizarre Doctor Who-related thoughts about Peter and Lydia's mom. Again, this was really convoluted.
- Peter giving Lydia the Bite and using her to come back to life are mentioned, but infuriatingly not actually explained.
- Talia took a memory from Peter. Surely she should have also taken the memory of having a memory stolen so that he didn't get suspicious.
- Lydia is able to access the memory via banshee powers. Apparently Peter had a child.
- We hoped that this may actually mean good things for Peter, but nope, that's still not gonna happen. The writers told Ian Bohen to "just accept" that Peter is a bad guy - does this mean Ian also hoped for redemption?
- We puzzle through some age stuff. JUST TELL US ABOUT WEREWOLF AGES, JEFF! Was Peter a teenager when this happened? Was he evil then? Did Talia have the right to do this? Huh?
- For a second, we all thought this meant that Peter was Derek's dad and got super confused.
- Is he Lydia's dad? Jackson's? Parrish's?
- Oh, Malia's dad, apparently. Do we buy this? Also, we bet Crazy Mr Tate will be stoked on that.
- Mr Yukimura does know about kitsune, and his wife is sacrificing her "tails" to create the Oni.
- The bomb scare on the school bus - hi Jared! Hi Steve Rogers Parrish!
- Who took the nameplate? Who gave Jared the bomb? Does Stiles have minions?
- Derek saving Chris from the actual bomb, we just cannot even. Just. Nope. Nope forever. We're fine.
- We know how brilliant Stiles is, but how smart is he considered to be to the general public in Beacon Hills? We take a little reality check.
- Is Stiles, as the nogitsune, a distraction from a bigger bad?
- Swords in the rain, and Scott gets stabbed.
- Dylan is unrecognizably creepy.
- This was Posey's fave scene of all time? Alright then. We were expecting something a little different!
- Deaton "saves the day" but we kind of hate him. Is this going to turn into a Giles killing Ben to get rid of Glory scenario?
- We chat a bit more about the concept of pack and family, as brought up by Alpha of the Week Katie, on Wolf Watch.
- For our Non Sequitur section, we turn to the age old philosophical riddle: Marvel or DC? We also discuss how much nonsense we talk, and how this should really be a quick "yes or no" thing. We then attempt that with another question, and manage to stretch that out into a nonsense discussion as well. Go us.
- See you next week!
