The Crossover: Nikola Vujcic

Joe chats to the Croatian basketball legend Nikola Vujcic, whose one dream was to win EuroLeague.

Maccabi Tel Aviv’s sports director started his career in the former Yugoslavia, when his father was away fighting in the civil war. As well as those early days, the five time All-EuroLeague selection talks about his many career highs (and occasional lows), about the basketball rivalry between teams from Croatia and Serbia and about making Israel his home.

Vujcic also has great stories about helping to save his first club Split from bankruptcy and an explosive, uncharacteristic row with one of his coaches!

The All-Decade Team member has shared a court with many of the best players we’ve seen on the continent, so standby for his take on the likes of Arvydas Sabonis, ‘Saras’ Jasikevicius and Darryl Middleton.
