Patrick Clancy Testifies in Lindsay Clancy Trial: What He Says the Doctors Missed

Lindsay Clancy's husband, Patrick, testified today in her murder trial — the case out of Duxbury, Massachusetts where prosecutors allege she strangled her three children, 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 7-month-old Callan, with exercise resistance bands inside the family's Summer Street home on January 24, 2023. Clancy faces three counts of murder and three counts of strangulation. She has pleaded not guilty, and her defense — led by Kevin Reddington — is built on an insanity claim: severe postpartum psychosis, they say, made worse by psychiatric overmedication.

Patrick's testimony centered on the timeline of prescriptions Lindsay was put on in the weeks before the killings, and how often the plan changed. Several medications, he said, were reportedly taken only a few times before being dropped or swapped for something else — a revolving door of adjustments that, allegedly, never had time to actually work. He also spoke to the family's efforts to get her additional intervention, testimony the defense will likely lean on hard when it argues she wasn't in a position to understand what she was doing.

Prosecutors, for their part, are expected to argue she did understand, medication chaos or not. After the killings, Clancy allegedly attempted suicide by jumping from a second-story window and is now paralyzed from the waist down. Patrick was running errands when it happened and has since relocated to Manhattan, where he's spoken publicly about his wife's mental health. The trial continues in Plymouth Superior Court and is expected to run several weeks.
