The second half of Patrick Clancy's cross-examination played out today in the trial of his wife, Lindsay Clancy, the Duxbury, Massachusetts mother accused of strangling their three children — 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 7-month-old Callan — with exercise resistance bands inside the family's Summer Street home on January 24, 2023. Clancy faces three counts of murder and three counts of strangulation. She's pleaded not guilty, with defense attorney Kevin Reddington arguing severe postpartum psychosis and psychiatric overmedication drove her actions.

Reddington used the second round to hammer home themes from earlier in the day. Patrick reaffirmed that Lindsay dreaded going back to work, driven by a fear of being away from her kids rather than anything resembling detachment. He was also asked again about her medication — and confirmed once more that the limited number of pills she took from each prescription came down to physician direction, not her own decision to cut back.

Repetition is a strategy here, not an accident. Reddington isn't introducing new information — he's making sure the jury can't walk away from this stretch of testimony without absorbing the "doctor's orders" framing.

Prosecutors, for their part, still have to convince the jury she understood the nature of her actions that day. After the killings, Clancy allegedly attempted suicide by jumping from a second-story window and is now paralyzed from the waist down. Her husband has since relocated to Manhattan. The trial continues in Plymouth Superior Court.
