Lindsay Clancy’s Own Witnesses Said THIS About Her

The prosecution called more than seventy witnesses over fourteen days at Plymouth Superior Court. Under cross-examination, the witnesses who personally knew Lindsay Clancy all described the same person: a wonderful, nurturing mother who always wanted a family. Patrick Clancy said it on the stand. Her friends confirmed it. Former co-workers echoed it. The defense didn’t need to call a single character witness.
The defense’s forensic psychologist testified that Lindsay told him a male voice ordered her to kill her children, and that she had no appreciation for the wrongfulness of what she did. Her hospital records from days after the killings list “critically ill, postpartum psychosis.” A hospital psychiatrist testified she appeared calm and cooperative during the same period.
Lindsay’s mother told the jury that her daughter said the medication was destroying her mind and begged for help. The prosecution’s cross-examination response was to ask why the family didn’t intervene more aggressively.
Eric Faddis, defense attorney and former prosecutor, evaluates what the prosecution left this jury with and whether it’s enough.
