The man in the Philly House of Horrors videos died before anyone found the footage. Raymond “R.C.” Horsch was eighty-two. Lung disease. Never charged with a violent crime in his life. His son Eugene is the one in federal custody—on gun and credential charges from a parking-violation traffic stop that cracked the whole case open.
That June 2026 stop at Independence Mall led investigators to 417 West Chew Avenue in Olney. Inside: a 55-gallon drum connected to water lines, containers of chemicals, and more than a million digital files on fifty hard drives. Seven missing women are linked to the house. Five are believed dead based on the footage. No bodies have been recovered.
R.C. Horsch was a National Merit Scholar, convicted counterfeiter, meth cook, and fugitive who spent decades recruiting women struggling with addiction from Kensington. A 1985 federal psych eval diagnosed paranoid personality disorder and called him “consumed by anger.” His ex-wife Amy McHale vanished from the house in 2016. Her family told police. Nothing happened.
Eugene faces federal charges for the guns and fake DEA credentials found in his car. He has not been charged in connection with any of the missing women. The videos police have described show his father, not him.
The FBI has reviewed thirty percent of the evidence. The suspect who cannot answer for the rest is already dead.
