Murdaugh Grand Jury Witnesses Claim a Cop Had WHAT?!

The prosecution convicted Alex Murdaugh of double murder in March 2023 without ever producing the weapons used to kill his wife Maggie and son Paul at the family’s Moselle estate on June 7, 2021. The shotgun that killed Paul and the rifle that killed Maggie have never been recovered.

FITSNews reported on September 25, 2026, that SLED investigators and statewide grand jury prosecutors are now investigating allegations that Yemassee Police Chief Greg Alexander helped dispose of those weapons. Locals in Hampton County have called Alexander the Murdaugh family’s fixer for years.

Witnesses have allegedly testified before the grand jury that they saw the murder weapons in Alexander’s hands in the immediate aftermath of the killings. The Post and Courier reported that a second, unnamed Yemassee officer is also under investigation. The accusation: both officers allegedly transported weapons and bloody clothing into the Yemassee police department the morning after the murders.

Alexander’s attorney admits his client was at the Moselle property that night. Yemassee doesn’t have jurisdiction over the estate.

About a month after the killings, Alex Murdaugh wrote Alexander a $5,000 check. Alexander told FITSNews it was a loan for his parents and he was just a pass-through. He declined to say whether the money was repaid. Murdaugh family members and allies gave $5,500 to Alexander’s campaign for Hampton County sheriff.

Alexander’s history with the Murdaugh power structure goes back further. In 2012, he was indicted for stealing nearly $11,000 in seizure money from motorists. He was tried in Hampton County with the Murdaugh family’s backing, acquitted, and returned to the force.

If the grand jury witnesses are credible, the retrial implications are significant. The prosecution’s case has always rested on Alex acting alone. A police chief allegedly holding the murder weapons changes that narrative before a second jury hears the case in April 2027.

Alexander has not been charged. His attorney calls the allegations absurd. Alex Murdaugh maintains his innocence.
