In the hours before Ashley Flynn was shot in her sleep, her husband’s phone started going dark. ChatGPT was uninstalled on February 15. GroupMe and Instagram were deleted shortly after 1 a.m. on February 16. Prosecutors argued Caleb Flynn was trying to erase the digital evidence of his 18-month affair: more than 107,000 messages with a 24-year-old church intern, AI-generated love songs, and data about how to permanently delete messages. The deletions were recovered. So were the messages, the songs, Apple Watch activity, and cell tower records. A jury convicted Flynn on all nine counts in approximately two hours. The defense said there was no gun and no direct evidence. Bob Motta and Robin Dreeke break down how the phone became the prosecution’s most powerful witness.
