Trial Of Caleb Flynn Day 2: Police Spent HOW Long Searching?

Detective Adam Bernard's Day 2 testimony in the Caleb Flynn trial focused on what investigators did after the initial scene work was over. The Tipp City detective described evidence collected in the days following Ashley Flynn's death, including electronic information obtained under a Microsoft search warrant. 

Cross-examination focused heavily on the firearm search. Bernard testified that he spent tens of hours searching the Flynn residence for the gun. He also said officers searched sewer drains. The testimony established that the search was lengthy and expanded outside the home's ordinary storage spaces. 

The defense also asked Bernard about tips received during the investigation. He testified that he collected tip reports and sent them to the FBI. Bernard said he did not know whether the FBI followed up on those tips. That distinction matters because his testimony established the transfer of the information, but not what investigators outside Tipp City did after receiving it. 

Bernard further testified that electronic data was collected under a Microsoft search warrant. That portion of his testimony addressed another category of evidence gathered after the incident. Cross-examination concentrated more sharply on how long police searched for the firearm and what happened to tips after Bernard forwarded them. 

Caleb Flynn has pleaded not guilty in the death of his wife, Ashley Flynn. Prosecutors allege he staged the scene to look like a burglary after killing Ashley. The defense says a home invader killed her and investigators settled on Caleb too quickly. 

That makes Bernard's cross-examination especially important. Jurors heard how hard police searched for the firearm, but they also heard that Bernard could not tell them whether tips sent to the FBI were pursued. The argument now is not simply about how much investigative work was done. It is about which leads were exhausted, which were handed off, and what the jury can actually conclude from that record.
